Why Support???

I am reminded of the profound significance of community, family support, and charity in our lives. These pillars of humanity are not only fundamental values within our religious teachings but also serve as guiding lights illuminating the path toward a more compassionate and harmonious world.

Community is the heartbeat of our existence. It is within the embrace of our community that we find solace, strength, and belonging. Whether we are celebrating life's joys or weathering its storms, the support of our community sustains us.

Yet, within our connections, there exists another sacred institution: the family. Our families are the cornerstone of our lives, the bedrock upon which we build our dreams and aspirations. They provide us with love that knows no bounds, guidance in times of uncertainty, and a sense of identity rooted in tradition and heritage. It is through the nurturing embrace of our families that we learn the true meaning of compassion, empathy, and unconditional love.

As many of you know, I am an avid cyclist.  It’s where I go to think, relax, and find my personal center. The repetitive motion of turning the petals over and the fresh air rushing over my skin is my utopia.

On a ride last summer in Oyster Bay I climbed up to Sagamore Hill. Former home of President Theodore Roosevelt.  On the back of the national park sign was a great quote.

“Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.”

This quote resonates with me on so many levels.  On an individual level, we are taught to dream big, reach for the stars, push harder, faster, farther…and at the same time connect with the family around you.  Your foundation that keeps you grounded, centered and aware of where you are.

As someone who has wandered and been solo for many years.  I'd like to share with you a personal story of how the birth of my own daughter reinforced the profound importance of family support and community in my life. When my daughter entered this world, she brought with her a light that brightened every corner of our home. Her laughter filled our hearts with joy, and her presence reminded us of the boundless love that exists within the embrace of family.

Yet, along with the immeasurable blessings of her arrival, came unexpected challenges. My wife and I, like all new parents, found ourselves navigating the complexities of parenthood, grappling with sleepless nights and the overwhelming responsibility of caring for a newborn. In those moments of doubt and exhaustion, it was the unwavering support of our family and community that sustained us.

From the meals brought to our doorstep by caring neighbors, to the words of encouragement offered by loved ones, we were reminded time and time again of the strength that lies in the bonds of family and community. It was through their love and support that we found the courage to face each new day with hope and determination.

However, we must also recognize that not everyone is blessed with the same level of support and resources.

In the matrix of life, there are those who find themselves entangled in the threads of adversity, struggling to make ends meet or facing insurmountable challenges.

It is during these moments of need that the spirit of charity shines brightest.

Charity is more than just a monetary donation; it is a reflection of our humanity, a testament to our capacity for empathy and kindness. When we extend a helping hand to those in need, we embody the values of compassion and solidarity that lie at the core of our faith. Whether it is through donating our time, resources, or expertise, each act of charity has the power to transform lives and uplift spirits.

SO THIS…IS WHY…I RIDE!

This summer, I am excited to take part in Bike4Chai, an exhilarating and challenging cycling event benefiting the children and families of Chai Lifeline. Every mile I ride and every dollar I raise will help support critical programs and services for more than 6,000 families impacted by illness, crisis, and loss. These services include counseling and case management, meals delivered to hospitals and homes, transportation to medical appointments, emergency financial assistance, insurance advocacy, i-Shine afterschool programming, Big Brothers/Sisters, crisis and trauma intervention, and Chai Lifeline’s flagship medically-supervised summer programs, Camp Simcha, Camp Simcha Special, and Camp Simcha Without Borders.

I’ve committed to raising $10,000 for this important cause and I hope I can count on you to help me reach my goal. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

Life for a child with cancer, disability, or other serious illness is grueling. From the moment of diagnosis, Chai Lifeline’s dedicated staff and volunteers are there to provide joy, hope, and unparalleled care throughout the turbulent medical journey. Please contribute generously by clicking on the donate button now.

On behalf of the children and families of Chai Lifeline, thank you for your support.

Stuart
