This summer, I am excited to take part in Bike4Chai, an exhilarating and challenging cycling event benefiting the children and families of Chai Lifeline. My grandson, Eitan, will be joining me on this ride for the first time, which will be a wonderful Zaidy/grandchild experience (assuming I can keep up with him). For the past 21 years, as many of you know, I have been volunteering for CLL at Sloan Kettering, Cornell, and NYU. I have witnessed firsthand the AMAZING things that CLL does on a daily basis: meals in the hospital or at home, crisis and trauma intervention, financial assistance, transportation, insurance advocacy, etc., for the patients and families. I cannot put into words the smiles I have seen on the faces of the children who have come back from Disney World, Camp Simcha, Chanukah parties, I Shine after-school programs, etc., all of which CLL has orchestrated.
